Frequently Asked Questions
.
Will this work for my bad posture?
While it would be nice to say that this exercise program will fix any and all posture problems, its unrealistic to say that. The Posture Confidence program will help with those posture problems that are not due to problems of the spine.
That is, if your spine has been permanently damaged or changed due to osteoporosis (due to compression fractures), severe degeneration, or due to an abnormality (vertebrae are shaped differently) than no, this will not help. You still should consider doing the exercises to keep things from getting worse, but should visit a chiropractor or your physician, get an x-ray and determine what’s going on.
Most posture problems are due to muscular changes, imbalances, and/or weakness. Posture Confidence will help with these issues.

Are there a lot of exercises for forward head posture?
Forward head posture is an often misunderstood posture problem. All of the attention is focused on the head and neck when most of your efforts should be focused on the lower spine. If your head is moving forward, you are imbalanced and your head is acting like a counterweight to your lower bad posture.
While we do include some specific neck exercises in the DVD, if you work on your overall posture, your forward head posture will improve right along with it.
.
I’m unable to lay on the floor, how can I do the exercises?
We have included several programs with the Posture Confidence DVD, including a posture improving program that does not involve laying on the ground. Most of that program is sitting in a chair, with just a couple of standing moves.
.
Is this exercise program just for women?
No, Posture Confidence was designed to help all patients regardless of sex, age, or ability level. Some of our customers are saying that they have their entire family doing the exercises.
.
How much of an improvement can I really expect?
This is entirely up to you! Most people think they are just improving their posture, but to a degree they are counteracting their daily activities and then fixing their posture issue. You can look at your current posture as just a result. Your neck and back look like they do now largely due to your habits and your normal daily activities.
If you’re going to spend hours hunched over a computer, time commuting hunched over your steering wheel, spend time slumped on your couch watching t.v. and then sleeping incorrectly for the rest of your time… you might need more than 10 minutes per day to counteract this.
You will notice a difference fairly quickly, with most people feeling differently within days of beginning the exercises. To make a major difference in how you feel and look, you’ll need to make sure that you’re doing enough to counteract all the posture-damaging things you’re doing during your day.
.
Okay, I tried it for a week and it didn’t work. Now what?
If you’re not getting the results you’re after, it’s probably due to just a couple of things.
1. Your spine is more involved than you think. Consider seeing a chiropractor for an evaluation.
2. You’re not doing enough exercise to counteract your normal activities.
3. You’re doing the exercises wrong. The form and alignment of how you do the exercises is important to your success. If you are crooked or hunched over doing the exercises, you’re not working the right muscles and you won’t get the right results. Consider having someone watch your posture while you do the movements and evaluate how straight you are.
.
How should I sleep to help my posture?
Ideally, you would sleep on your back with your neck’s curve supported and a pillow under your knees. This would help you maintain the curves of your spine while you sleep and give you the best rest… unless you snore.
Next best (and probably the easiest to do) is to sleep on your side. You want to make sure you’re not using too many pillows, and you want a pillow between your knees. I usually recommend using a body pillow, because since you’re holding it up at the top, you’ll keep it between your knees when you turn.
Do not sleep on your stomach. You’re just asking for neck and upper back problems!
